In Loving Memory

I didn't forget about this blog. I have determined that my problem is that I am self conscious about writing too many entries. I don't want to approach this blog like an extended version of Facebook, where I post every little thing that happens in my life. Not that I do that, or that there is anything wrong with that. Simply my approach is to wait a while, save up some good thoughts, ideas, events, and then write a bit about it. Is this the right way to blog? Who really knows (or cares).

My Family lost someone dear to all of our hearts at a young age this week. My heart feels heavy. I'm not sure what to think or how to write about this. All I know is that my family and myself included will continue to love him and cherish the time we were together.

With his memory in mind, I will continue working hard to peruse my goals. I will keep volunteering, helping others and improving education at the CCC. I will work on getting into Mater's Degree program, and keep doing what is right in my  heart and let no ill-wishers will  deter me.

I'll leave you with one of my favorite, inspirational songs

My encounter with a congresswoman

I swear sometimes I am special

Hi everybody! Happy 2012 to you all. Let me get you up to date with some things and some stuff. If you're curious about the picture, well you should be. That is me with our district House of Representatives Louis Capps (D). Ever since I started working with the CCC, one of my main side projects has been trying to get our congress woman to visit our center, mainly to boost awareness of politics and issues in our country with our corpsmembers. Well, it finally came to fruition, and she came to our center on Thursday January 20 2012. Her visit was amazing. She was able to engagingly chat with with our corpsmembers during our community meeting for about half an hour, 3 times longer than what was scheduled, and the cm's loved it. It was a great success, and I got to share in the glory on stage with her momentarily when this amazing picture was taken.
So there is a rumor going around that I am applying to grad school. Well, cat out of the bag. I am applying to Cal Poly MPP program. I just took the GRE exam, didn't have to but I did. I did pretty well I suppose, I feel like my essays were good, 155 in verbal, 150 in quantitative. The next step is getting some Letters of Recommendation, finishing my mission statement, and submitting my application. Fingers crossed
